Industrial & Commercial Scrap Metal Recycling
IH-R collects ferrous and non-ferrous scrap from plants, shops and job sites across Greater Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky. We grade it, weigh it on certified scales and pay you by weight.

CNC & machine shops
We collect turnings and borings from CNC and machine shops, wet or dry. Where keeping aluminum, steel and stainless apart earns a better return, we set up the containers so it adds no extra work for your operators.
Stamping & press shops
We collect busheling, skeleton scrap, clippings and offal from stamping and press shops, with hoppers sized to your run rate rather than to a calendar.
High-volume logistics are built around your floor: hoppers at the machine, lugger boxes in the bay, roll-offs in the yard and 53-foot trailers at the dock. Nothing we collect goes to landfill.
Bulk recovery at the dock
A 53-foot trailer can sit at your dock and be loaded as metal comes off the line, so scrap never takes up floor space. When the trailer is full, we swap it. Self-dumping hoppers sit at the machine where turnings and offal land, and a forklift tips them into a lugger outside.
Heavy loads such as plate drops and structural steel go into lugger boxes or roll-off containers sized to the job.
Scheduled logistics
Pickups run on a fixed schedule set around your shifts and production runs, so a full container never stops a line. A full container is swapped within 24 hours of your call. There is no minimum, and mixed loads are accepted with no sorting penalty.
Where keeping aluminum, steel and stainless apart earns a better return, we set up the containers so separation adds no extra handling for your operators.
Teardowns, cleanouts & equipment removal
We handle one-time jobs for manufacturing plants, warehouses and construction and demolition sites. Lugger boxes and roll-off containers are staged before the work starts and removed when the job is done.
- Plant teardowns
- Scrap trailer removal
- Fire-damaged building cleanouts
- Old machinery and equipment removal
- Separate containers for copper and stainless, so they are kept apart before everything else goes in one box
Corporate compliance and reporting
Grades follow the ReMA (formerly ISRI) scrap specifications, and every load is weighed. One account covers every site, with one contact and one schedule. Reporting is broken out per site, by material and by load, in the format your corporate or sustainability team already uses.
Rebates. We pay rebates on material and pay for metal by weight. Rates depend on grade and volume.
Equipment
- Self-dumping hoppers, ¼ to 2 cubic yards, at the machine
- Shop tubs, 1 to 3 cubic yards, for inside areas a lugger cannot reach
- Lugger boxes, 6 to 12 cubic yards, for heavy metal in a tight yard
- Roll-off and open-top containers, 10 to 40 cubic yards, for bulk mixed metal
- 53-foot trailers dropped at your dock and loaded as metal comes off the line
Grade reference
Grade numbers and code names follow the ReMA (formerly ISRI) scrap specifications. If you know your grade, tell us. If not, describe the material and we will grade it.

Industrial metal recovery FAQ
Do you pay for scrap metal?
Yes. We pay for metal by weight. Rates depend on grade and volume.
Do we have to separate metals?
No. Mixed loads are accepted with no sorting penalty.
Can you take turnings with oil and coolant?
Yes. Running a briquetter or a centrifuge changes the grade, so tell us what equipment you run and we will factor it in.
What area do you serve?
We serve commercial and industrial accounts within 50 miles of Cincinnati, including Dayton, Northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana.
